I thought that progestins (which are released in high doses by the corpus luteum following successful ovulation) are what prepare the endometrium for implantation. You are correct in tha...Thanks for the kind words. You are correct in that the copper IUD is the only one indicated for emergency contraception. It is still also used for conventional contraception. There is also a shorter acting LNG IUD that is FDA approved. <br /><br />Its probably worth a whole post, but despite attempts to claim that the copper IUD works mostly through anti-sperm effects prior to fertilization.
