In my humble opinion, Johah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism brilliantly describes how we arrived at our current political landscape. Goldberg's thesis is simple: The political left, not the right, is most responsible for fascist thinking and action.
Now, the portion of his book dealing with Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood, and eugenics is on on-line.
Read it, then go buy the book.

ReplyDeleteI came to a similar understanding earlier this year: what we are seeing in terms of liberal social change is really the onslaught of socialism, particularly with this election. Abortion is a political market that is passed down from generation to generation for power purposes. That implies numerous ties that spread out among a considerable number of stakeholders.
Lately I've been considering the relationship between the rise of social networks and the state of socialism in the US.
If I recall correctly, you mentioned during a Focus on the Family broadcast that most potential clients are blowing right by the PRC, meaning we have an idea problem that marketing won't solve.
From my experience with PRCs, it seems social networks, whether offline or on-line, have a considerable impact on how the sanctity of life message is received.
Do you see that trend and if so - how would you counter it?
That book sounds interesting, Scott. I’m on page 233 of David Boonin’s A Defense of Abortion. It is amazing how comprehensive Boonin’s book is. When I’m done with his book, then I’ll read Francis Beckwith’s Defending Life again. These are the books I want to read:

I took a PowerPoint class at the University of Southern California that should be useful for making pro-life projects. I would like somebody to develop a question and answer video that responds directly to arguments that Boonin makes. It can be easer to make points with video and audio. It seems that that type of video would be very useful for pro-lifers. In addition, it would be good if there was a pro-life documentary that systematically responded to Boonin’s arguments.
