LTI Podcast #25 - The Super Bowl Commercial [Serge]

Life Training Institute Podcast #25 - The Superbowl Commercial

In this episode, Rich, Scott, Jay, and Bob discuss the upcoming commercial produced by Focus on the Family that will air during the upcoming Superbowl. We respond to some of the criticism that CBS has received for selling the time to Focus on the Family. Is it possible that the emotional appeal of this commercial may obscure the true pro-life argument?

LTI Podcast #23 - The "Cool"cast Part 1 [Serge]

LTI Podcast #23 - The "Cool"cast part 1 After determining that Rich lacks the coolness that such an episode demands, Jay takes over hosting duties and is joined by special guests Megan Almon of LTI and Brett Kunkle of Stand to Reason. They discuss the concept of "cool" and how it applies to the pro-life movement today.

In what is clearly the most uncool segment of this "cool"cast, Rich also comments on a recent article claiming that believers tend to make God in their own image when considering their moral beliefs.

LTI Podcast #22 - The Stupak Amendment [Serge]

Life Training Institute Podcast #22 - The Stupak Amendment

The Stupak amendment is being hailed as a great pro-life victory - but is it possible that pro-lifers just enabled one of the worst bills ever to pass the House of Representatives? Scott returns to the roundtable with Rich and Jay to discuss this and other issues related to Obamacare.

LTI Podcast Episode 19 - Death Panels [Serge]

LTI Podcast #19 - The Death Panel Episode Rich and Jay have a roundtable discussion responding to Sarah Palin's "death panel" charge. Is she guilty of crass Republican propaganda, or does she make a valid point about a possible consequence of health care rationing? Rich also continues his series about the medical literature discussing the impact of RU-486 on abortion access in the United States. Was the introduction of RU-486 a decade ago a game changer or has it had little effect?

LTI Podcast #18 - Obamacare and Abortion [Serge]

On this podcast the LTI team address Obamacare and abortion. We have a roundtable discussion with Rich, Scott, Jay, and Bob regarding federal funding for abortion under the proposed health care reform legislation. Will this bill change the federal government's longstanding doctrine of not providing federal money for most abortions? Or can we trust Obama when he states it will not?

Also, Rich continues his series regarding the medical literature when he addresses a recent article in the Journal Contraception regarding emergency contraception. Now that the experts agree that it is not effective in reducing unplanned pregnancy, should practitioners "give up" on the medication? The answer may surprise you.

LTI Podcast #17 - "Common Ground Part 2" [Serge]

Rich, Jay and Bob conclude their discussion on President Obama's appeal for common ground in the abortion debate. Rich continues his series on cultural cognitive dissonance by discussing the concept of informed consent. Why are women and girls seeking abortions not provided with the same information and opportunities that those seeking wisdom tooth extractions presently get?

LTI Podcast Episode 14 [Serge]

In light of the recent murder of abortionist George Tiller, Rich, Scott, and Jay unequivocally condemn this crime. However, are pro-life advocates partly responsible for this act by creating an environment that creates vigilantes? Or are we inconsistent with our pro-life beliefs because we condemn this action? We respond to these specific arguments in part one of two of our roundtable discussion.

Rich also begins a new series entitled "Adventures in Cultural Cognitive Dissonance". Pro-abortion choice advocacy may not only effect your ability to think morally, it may also challenge your ability to think consistently.

LTI Podcast Episode 13 [Serge]

Life Training Institute Podcast episode 13 is up! Some recent polls suggest that for the first time a majority of Americans consider themselves pro-life. Rich, Scott, and Bob discuss these polls and the implication for the pro-life cause. Rich analyzes an article from the popular magazine "Self" about why women in their twenties are becoming pregnant while single. Hint: it's not because of lack of sex-ed or access to contraception. Lastly, Rich responds to a listener e-mail which questions the ethics of using vaccines derived through cell lines originally obtained by abortions.

In this podcast, Scott, Rich, and new contributor Bob Perry discuss the recent news that abortions for the purposes of sex-selection are legal in Sweden. LTI Podcast Episode 11 [Serge]

After some technical delays, The Life Training Institute Podcast episode 11 is now available. In this podcast, Rich and Scott discuss one of the more challenging questions asked of pro-lifers: if Roe V Wade is overturned, what should the punishment be for those who have abortions? Rich also reveals more evidence from the pro-abortion choice literature that emergency contraception is not effective in decreasing unplanned pregnancies or abortions.

LTI Podcast Episodes 8 and 9 [Serge]

Due to some computer issues, I did not provide a link for last week's LTI podcast episode 8. In that episode I interview Jojo Ruba from the Canadian Centre of Bioethical reform about the attempt to silence the pro-life message on university campuses in Canada. Jay also begins a new segment entitled "Common Sense Corner". You can download the podcast at this link (http://www.switchpod.com/users/serge13102/LTIPodcastep8.mp3)

Also, episode 9 is now available. I finish my interview with Jojo and respond to an editorial in the new England Journal of Medicine claiming that those with religious convictions regarding the intrinsic value of human beings should not practice in a field like women's medicine. LTI Podcast Special Episode 6 - Obama and Stem Cells [Serge]

Its all Obama this week. Serge, Scott, and Jay respond to President Obama's speech yesterday regarding destructive embryo research and the position of science in public discourse. Should scientific inquiry always trump ethical and moral concerns?

LTI Podcast Episode 5 [Serge]

LTI Podcast Episode 3 [Serge]

Episode three is now ready for download. You can listen to it via the player in the right margin, or go directly to the download page here. You can also subscribe via Itunes at the address http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=303709975.

Serge reports on some exciting news, and Scott, Jay, and Serge have a roundtable discussion regarding the bodily autonomy argument for abortion rights. Additional information can be found in my post here and my article in CRJ here. You'll have to wait a few months, but Scott's forthcoming book has a a great chapter on this argument (preorder here).

I also take on the outrageous claim from the Guttmacher institute that the abortion rate in Mexico is significantly higher than that of the United States. Wait until you see where they came up with their "estimate".

We would love feedback either here in the comments or email us at prolifetraining@yahoo.com.

LTI Podcast Episode 2 [Serge]

In this episode of the podcast, Serge shows his technical ineptitude by completely blowing off his blog and podcast partners. Scott and Jay joined me for a great round table discussion about the bodily autonomy argument for abortion rights and I somehow did not record it correctly. Sorry again guys. We will be rerecording the segment for (hopefully) next week's podcast.

However, I did manage to record Josh Brahm, host of the Life Report podcast, and had a good discussion regarding various pro-life issues and how to get reach our youth regarding the pro-life message. You can listen to the Life Report Podcast here.

What do pro-abortion think about the effectiveness of contraceptive education and access? You may be surprised, as I take a look at an editorial from the journal Contraception.

Lastly, I respond to an email discussing the likelihood that we will find a definitive answer to whether or not oral contraceptives have a deleterious effect on an implanting embryo. My previous posts on this topic can be found here.

All episodes on the podcast can be listened to by the player in the right margin, or you can subscribe via ITunes using this link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=303709975
